About Recovery Trip
Recovery Trip is about one narrow question: what ketamine and psilocybin can and cannot do for people with alcohol and other substance use problems, and where the legal, supervised options actually are in Canada and the United States. The name is a pun and the subject is not; we try to keep the tone somewhere between the two.
Who runs it
The site is independently owned and edited from British Columbia. It is one of three related sites: Higher Place publishes essays and guides on psychedelic therapy; Medicinal Journey is the general directory of ketamine and psilocybin providers. Recovery Trip is the substance-use edge of the same work.
How it is funded
Providers can pay to receive the inquiries people send through a listing. That is the whole model. Paid status is disclosed on the listing page, never changes what the listing says or whether it is checked, and we do not take payment from anyone we would not otherwise list. We do not accept referral fees from addiction treatment centres, and we do not list or refer to residential rehab: that market has laws written specifically because of patient brokering, and we want no part of it.
What this site will not do
It will not list underground facilitators, ibogaine clinics, ayahuasca retreats or anyone offering a controlled substance outside a licence or a registered trial. It will not give medical advice, tell you whether a treatment is right for you, or help you around your own doctor. It will not publish success rates, because nobody credible has them.
If you need help now
If you are in severe withdrawal or in danger, contact emergency services. In Canada, provincial health lines (811 in BC) can direct you to withdrawal management. In the US, the SAMHSA National Helpline is 1-800-662-4357.
